Anime: Tokyo Mew Mew

24 Dec

I’m not a fan of mahou shojo (magical girl anime), but my sister is. Somehow, I ended up watching all the episodes with her and even reading the manga when she bought it. Yep, it was a surprise for me to like Tokyo Mew Mew. And I know it’s not probably the best anime of this genre. I’m sure there are ones that are far better, but still it totally hooked me on, probably because I like the unrequited love story and the aliens characters.

Book: The Neverending Story

20 Dec

200px-TheNeverendingStory1997Edition

Who doesn’t know The Neverending Story? It’s one of the best well-known fantasy books of all times, but most people may have heard of it for its multiple movie adaptations, which are crap, honestly (although I used to watch one of them quite a lot. Don’t judge me. I was little and there was a dog-like dragon, a talking tree an a giant baby rock. Who can resists at age 8?). Anyway, I’m very glad I laid my hands on it a few years ago, when I was a teenager. I could relate to Bastian and this book kinda taught me a few things which I’ve noticed now. I have to read it again soon. This is a book I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend to those who really like a good fantasy story and a good lesson of self-improvement.

Anime: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel of Monsters

18 Dec

The story about how I started to watch Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel of Monsters is the same one as in Medabots. When I was a teenager, I watched it because there was nothing else on TV or that was what I told to myself because I knew deep down I liked it. So for the past two weeks, I’ve been watching the entire series out of curiosity and melancholy and finally finished them yesterday. It turned out it is one of my favorites now. If my teenage self could see me now… 😀 Have anyone seen the sequels? Are they good? Since the original characters are not there, I don’t know if I should see them or not. But I’ll read the manga for sure. Come on! Keep reading the review and leave some comments!

Drama: It Started with a Kiss

15 Dec

I watched this drama a long time ago, when I loved Taiwanese dramas more than Japanese and Korean ones because they are generally more touchy-feely and kisses are more real. I think this is one of the most addictive dramas I’ve ever seen since I hated the main girl and I still watched everything. You should watch it if you are looking for a simple story.

Movie: Frozen

12 Dec

I went to the cinema yesterday with a few friends and I finally got to watch Frozen. I love Disney movies, or almost all cartoon movies for that matter. It was really nice. It reminded me of my childhood and, at the same time, to nowadays children movies. It’s a mix between your typical fairy tail and a modern CGI comedy. It made me laugh hard, but it could have also made me cry if I had been alone. So if you are a cartoon lover and not too afraid of princesses, you will probably like this.

Anime: Medabots

Medabots-Episode-67-English-Dubbed

I remember watching this when I was around 13, maybe? I never really payed much attention to it, but I was looking through some TV series lists and I saw it. I suddenly had the urge to watch it and see how it ended. This happens to me a lot. I may not be interested at first, but I’m very curious about the end. Which means I like it deep inside  even if I refuse to admit it. Well, now I’m able to admit this kind of things, but not when I was 13.

Book: Ella Enchanted

9 Dec

I always ended up reading all the books my little sister had to read for school. Ella Enchanted is one of those books and I’ll never regret reading it because it’s been one of my favorites ever since. It’s a retelling of Charles Perrault’s Cinderella with more fantastic elements that add a good degree of complexity to the story. This book is addressed to children around 12 year old, but I highly recommend it if you are into fantasy and love stories.
