TV Series: Lost

4 Apr

I always watch TV series too late, as Lost ended a few years back and started even before that. I’ve wanted to watch it since I saw some episodes when it was still showing on TV, though, but I never got to watch it until a few months ago. I don’t really regret it because I enjoyed it, but as many say, the end is off. All in all, I think these series set a precedent in the TV series boom that exists nowadays.

General Information:

  • Genre: mystery, supernatural, science fiction, adventure
  • Country: United States
  • Year: 2004-2010
  • Seasons and episodes: season 1 (25 episodes), season 2 (24 episodes), season 3 (23 episodes), season 4 (14 episodes), season 5 (17 episodes) and season 6 (18 episodes)
  • Main casting: Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway, Terry O’Quinn, Naveen Andrews, Emilie de Ravin, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Dominic Monaghan, Magge Grace, Ian Somerhalder, Harold Perrineau, Malcolm David Kelley
  • Watch online on:

A plane crashes in an tropical island on his way to USA from Australia. The survivors of the Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 will also have to survive in the island, which seems hard enough. But soon they discover the island is anything like they’ve seen before as mystery arises around every palm tree. The survivors will have to deal with polar bears roaming around, an invisible thread they will know as the Smoke Monster, the native inhabitants of the island they will call “the others”, the Dharma Initiative research project and much more strange events. At the same time, we will learn about the characters’ lives before and after the accident through a series of flashbacks and flashforwards.

The best:

  • Mystery throughout the whole series. Makes you constantly wonder what’s happening.
  • Sawyer. Sorry, I’m a fangirl deep inside.
  • Sayd (see above). Did you know he’s actually Indian and nor Arab? I was shocked at first, but then I had to admit he did look Indian.
  • Some good characters. Eg. Hugo and Benjamin.
  • The flashbacks and the flashforwards. Even if they were confusing at times, it was fresh and interesting. It adds mystery to the whole as you found yourself wondering if you are watching the past, the present or the future.

The worst:

  • The end. I’m sorry, but it did’t really do it for me. It kinda didn’t match the rest of the series. I know I haven’t understood it well yet, but I was expecting more. And, above all, more answers.
  • Some characters. Eg. Kate or Ana Lucía. I hate them 😀 There are also a few characters in the last season that are there just because.
  • Last season. It was so boring… Could have been better.

8 out of 10. It really had me interested during most of it, but it didn’t tied the knot nicely. I think the final score should be even lower, but since I haven’t really understood the end yet, I’ll judge for what I could understand.
